I have to admit, that I love our work at artbridge because we get to know very interesting people and artists, from whom we constantly learn! Our next interviewee and our latest artist, Nikon One, is an experienced, recognized painter, graphic designer, illustrator who has experienced many things, for instance in the 90s he worked as a graffiti artist, and today he works in Hollywood productions and with global brands. A true self-taught talent, he is also a well-read, open-minded creator. And this is why, we are very happy to be able to welcome on our site!
What were your first drawings about that you remember specifically?
My first drawing that I remember was a dog, it probably wanted to be Walt Disney's Pluto, I was about 4 years old.
What is your best memory from your childhood?
It is very vivid to me, that at the age of 6, my mother allowed me to stay up longer than usual and watch the animated film The Lords of Time. It was broadcast on television and we had a black-and-white device at the time. Undoubtedly, that evening had a decisive role in the fact that I later started to pursue a creative career.

Where did you learn to draw, when did it become clear that this was your path?
Apart from minor drawing courses, I didn't take serious drawing studies, I just started on my own and tried to train myself. Those active creative years that I spent in graffiti, street art and other creative mediums before my activities as an illustrator gave me a wide range of knowledge and tools, so in fact my creative training was continuous and continues today.
What topic and technique are you working on now, how do you spend your creative days?
The choice of topic is essential for me. I always create a background story, theme, connection points or connections for my works. As an illustrator, I only work digitally. For more than two decades I have worked with traditional techniques, materials and tools, but now I really enjoy the almost limitlessness, speed and diversity of digital tools. I can present my own visual world better and faster this way. When I illustrate, my creative days and my working days cannot really be separated, since my passion is also my work. I work from home, I like peace.
Your favorite city? Favorite place to travel to?
Budapest. If I lived anywhere else, it could easily be my favorite. But I live here, and I love it very much, especially Buda, especially in autumn. If I could travel anywhere, I would go to places little known or less affected by humans, for example anywhere on the Arctic Circle, either towards the North or South Pole, on the routes of Shackleton or Nansen, to Tibet, on the Tarim River or in the Takla Makan desert in the footsteps of the legendary Sven Hedin, sailing through the legendary Northwest Passage or visiting Almásy's Libyan desert - I find these places much more exciting than any tropical paradise.

Who is your favorite author? What music inspires you these days?
I am in the happy situation of knowing that all my reading is actually very good for me. I almost exclusively collect travelogues, I read the lines of explorers, adventurers, wanderers in the world or people on a mission, and that's why it's a very exciting topic, few books disappoint. So I can't single out a favorite, but for example, I was greatly influenced by the style of Zsigmond Széchenyi, and I also note precisely that I started reading because ofThomas Edward Lawrence's masterpiece: The Seven Pillars of Wisdom. László Almásy, Sven Hedin, Fridtjof Nansen, Ernő Zboray, Sten Bergman, Aage Gilberg, Nielsen, Chapman, Arszenyev or Pinyegin and I could list more, they are all my favorite writers. When it comes to music, I usually choose the right one for my mood and jump between styles as I feel. A lot of rock and roll and rockabilly, selected blues, classical and new jazz, and for work I usually choose calm, light or melancholic electronica.
Are there any things, processes, or factors shaping the fate of our society that are of particular concern to you right now?
There is no topic or factor that specifically concerns me, but for example I take a firm stand in favor of nature conservation. Among other things, this is a topic that comes up from time to time, and I am more than happy to help this purpose with my own tools. In my own field, I have to do what our universal value system requires within my own capacity, but I will not go further than that because it is no longer my job, it is not the job of a creator. What is mine is the creative work, and I feel that this should specifically concern me.
